EducationI hold a B.A. in Mathematics from Sweet Briar College; an Ed.M. from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education; and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from North Carolina State University.
ExperienceI am a former middle school math teacher and a seasoned math tutor. I have extensive experience developing and evaluating elementary math curricula and professional development programs for teachers, including curricula and programs supported by the National Science Foundation, the U.S. Department of Education, Ford Academy of Motor Sciences, IBM, the Boston Public Schools, and the Chicago Public Schools. Because of my extensive background in developing elementary math curriculum programs, I specialize in working with students in elementary school. Additionally, as a former middle school math teacher, I know the importance of giving elementary students a solid foundation for the more advanced mathematical topics they will encounter in middle and high school. I truly enjoy working with young people and find it incredibly rewarding to see just how much they can do when their confidence is bolstered and they are given the time and opportunity to understand mathematical concepts in concrete and meaningful ways.
HobbiesI enjoy spending time with my two teenage children, traveling, listening to live music (all kinds!), being on/in/by the water, and playing with my yellow lab puppy!
